1. Develop proficiency in playing and singing swaras accurately, enhancing instrumental and vocal performance skills.

2. Understand and apply shrutis effectively, enriching musical expression and authenticity.

3. Articulate a comprehensive understanding of ragas and their significance in Indian classical music traditions.

4. Showcase mastery of Raga music through captivating instrumental or vocal demonstrations, displaying depth of understanding and artistic interpretation.

5. Discern and differentiate between various musical forms within Indian and Western music traditions, showcasing versatility and breadth of musical knowledge.

6. Acquire a thorough understanding of music theory, history, and performance techniques, fostering musical proficiency and creativity.

7. Cultivate critical listening skills and an appreciation for diverse musical styles, enabling nuanced interpretation and analysis of musical works.

8. Demonstrate proficiency in musical composition and arrangement, showcasing creativity and skill in crafting original musical pieces.

9. Analyze and interpret musical works with a discerning eye, identifying stylistic elements and contextual significance for insightful performances.

* Scanned copies of the class 10, 11/12 marks card should be uploaded while filling up the application.

* If class 12 marks are not available at the time of applying, then marks of any test conducted during class 11 or Pre-board, can be uploaded.

* The office of admissions will verify the scorecards.

* Applications with no scorecards or vague scanned copies will be rejected and termed as Not Eligible.

INTRODUCTION

Music is a form of expression that encompasses organized sounds and rhythms, often created through a combination of melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre. It serves various purposes, including artistic expression, entertainment, cultural preservation, communication, and emotional expression. Music can be instrumental or vocal, performed solo or in groups, and can range from classical compositions to contemporary pop songs, traditional folk tunes to experimental electronic sounds. Across cultures and throughout history, music has played a significant role in shaping identities, fostering social cohesion, and reflecting the human experience.

 

The Department of Music aspires to offer our students a high-quality music education centred on establishing a solid musical groundwork. Our instructional approach aims to captivate and motivate students, fostering a lasting passion for music and an all-encompassing approach to education. We aspire to broaden students’ creative boundaries and provide a springboard for those who aspire to pursue music further.

VISION

We aim to provide our students with a quality music education that focuses on building a good foundation in music. The lessons learnt shall engage and inspire the students to develop a life-long love for music and a holistic approach to learning. It shall help the students to expand their creative horizons and for those who wish to continue doing music, the course shall prove to be a stepping stone for their musical endeavors.
