Siliguri, West Bengal – The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Salesian College Autonomous Siliguri marked its 10th anniversary and World Photography Day on August 19, 2024, with a series of creative competitions and workshops.

The celebration kicked off with a decennial theme song, “We Shall Arise,” composed and performed by Assistant Professor Mr. Simon Subba and his team of students. The department, which started with a small group of six students in 2014, has grown significantly over the past decade, now boasting over 170 students across its undergraduate and dual major programs.  

Head of Department Assistant Professor Mr. Bhabya Chandra Khati presented a visual journey of the department’s decade-long history, highlighting former faculty members, outstanding students, and key events. Creative Director of Beyond Crimson Siliguri, Mr. Nishal Lama, conducted a two-hour photography workshop, providing a live demonstration on the use of light in corporate photography and engaging students in an interactive Q&A session.

The event concluded with the screening of competition films, an award ceremony, and cake cutting.
