Bachelor of Arts in Sociology is a four-year degree programme with the possibility of completing the fourth year with research if a particular student secures 75% CGPA in the previous examinations.
Program Objective:
1. Develop a foundational and comprehensive understanding of the key definitions, characteristics, concepts, theories, and analytical tools used in sociology.
2. Connect their understanding of texts with real-world experiences to promote a critical and well-rounded learning and comprehension process.
3. Demonstrate his/her communication skills through paper presentation on subject as well as various interdisciplinary themes.
4. Formulate objective and unbiased work taking into account his/her subjective experiences as well through research-based writings.
5. Explore and generate new insights by integrating theoretical frameworks with empirical research and analysis.
Program Outcome:
After the successful completion of the programme, students will be able to:
1. Analyze and interpret social phenomena using established sociological theories and tools.
2. Critically engage with texts and translate theoretical understanding into real-world applications.
3. Conduct independent, ethical, and research-based sociological studies.
4. Contribute to the advancement of sociological knowledge through innovative and interdisciplinary perspectives.

The department shall engage in creating and encouraging quality teaching and conducive atmosphere for creative thinking and impart profound disciplinary knowledge with an interdisciplinary knowledge and bandwidth to the learners in order to make them engage in research, social activities, social forums, writing skills and creative thinking.
