Siliguri — Salesian College (Autonomous), Siliguri, marked the 210th birth anniversary of Saint John Bosco with a solemn Eucharistic celebration on 16 August 2025. Held in the college chapel, the liturgy brought together Catholic faculty, staff, and students in prayerful thanksgiving for the life and legacy of the founder of the Salesian Society.
The Eucharist was presided over by Rector Fr Dr Tomy Augustine and concelebrated by the Salesians of the College Community. In his homily, Fr Tomy reflected on Don Bosco’s outstanding contribution to society, particularly his pioneering efforts in raising awareness for the care and protection of children and young people. His words resonated deeply with the congregation, reaffirming Don Bosco’s enduring relevance in today’s educational and pastoral contexts.
The celebration was enriched by a spirited choir led by Mr. Leander, joined by student Sisters whose voices lent grace and harmony to the occasion. Following the Eucharist, a hearty breakfast was served in Nazareth Hall, fostering fellowship and joy among all present.
The commemoration reflected the enduring spirit of Don Bosco, whose vision continues to inspire the college’s mission of holistic education rooted in faith, reason, and loving kindness. END
