Siliguri:  The Department of Physics at Salesian College, Siliguri Campus, proudly continued its tradition of excellence in the IIT JAM examinations as Mr. Krish Gupta, a sixth‑semester student, qualified the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Admission Test for Masters (IIT JAM) 2026 in Physics, securing an impressive All India Rank of 628.
The Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for admission to postgraduate science programs such as M.Sc., M.Sc.-Ph.D. dual degrees, and related courses at IITs, IISc Bangalore, and other premier institutions. Highly competitive, IIT JAM serves as a gateway for students aspiring to pursue advanced studies in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biotechnology, Economics, Geology, and Mathematical Statistics.
This achievement continues a proud tradition of excellence, marking the fourth consecutive year that a student from the department has cleared the prestigious IIT JAM examination.
The four achievers from the Department of Physics include:
Lachung Sherpa – IIT JAM 2023.
Bhaskar Prasad – IIT JAM 2024, recently qualified the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) examination.
Subhranil Das – IIT JAM 2025, currently pursuing M.Sc. Physics at IIT Tirupati.
Krish Gupta – IIT JAM 2026, 3rd Year student.
