Siliguri: From 25 to 31 March 2026, a group of 23 students and two faculty members from Salesian College, Siliguri, undertook an educational tour to the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (North East Regional Centre, Guwahati) and Meghalaya. Established in 2009–10 under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, LNIPE Guwahati is dedicated to training and research in physical education and sports sciences.
At LNIPE, the team engaged in practical sessions across basketball, football, and track events, followed by morning drills in running and stretching. The journey then continued to Meghalaya, beginning with a visit to Police Bazaar in Shillong and a stay at a scenic Riverside Lodge.
Highlights included visits to waterfalls, swimming, trekking, cave exploration, and Eco Park in Sohra. A trip to Dawki offered glimpses of its famed river, though rain dimmed its clarity. Evenings were enriched with group activities and a bonfire that fostered teamwork and confidence.
The tour concluded with shopping at Fancy Bazaar in Guwahati before returning to Siliguri. It was an experience that combined education, adventure, and lasting memories. END
