Siliguri: Salesian College (Autonomous), Siliguri hosted Bishop Orestes Marengo Memorial Inter-College Volleyball Tournament (Boys & Girls) on 20 March 2026.
Department of Physical Education organised the event which had 9 boys and 4 girls teams participating.
The day began with the opening words of Principal Fr. (Dr.) Babu Joseph, followed by the formal declaration of the tournament by Chief Guest Sri Rajesh Debnath, Volleyball Secretary of Siliguri Mahakuma Krira Parishad, in the presence of Guests of Honour Sri Subhro Dey and Sri Subashish Ghosh.
Matches were officiated by seasoned referees from the Siliguri Umpire and Referee Association, including National Referees S. Bardhan and S. Bramachari, supported by state referees C. Bhattacharjee, M. N. Das, T. Dey Sarkar, and B. Dey.
On the boys’ side Advanced Studies faced Salesian College Sonada Campus, where Sonada displayed excellent teamwork to win the match. After that Loyola College played against Indian institute of legal studies, where Indian institute of legal studies won the match. The final match of the round saw Surya Sen Mahavidyalaya take on Salesian College Siliguri Campus, with Surya Sen Mahavidyalaya claiming victory..
In the girls’ category, Birsa Munda College registered a clear win against IIAS, while Salesian College Sonada edged past Salesian College Siliguri. The grand finale between Birsa Munda College and Sonada thrilled spectators, with Birsa Munda College lifting the championship trophy.
The Most Valuable Players of the tournament were Megha Mahato (Birsa Munda College) and Ayush Thapa (Surya Sen Mahavidyalaya).
The day concluded with a vote of thanks by student in-charge Titus Mukhiya. END
