Siliguri, February 19, 2026: Salesian College (Autonomous), Siliguri has been officially granted recognition by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Eastern Regional Committee, to launch the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) from the academic session 2026–27.
The recognition order dated 19 February 2026, published in the Gazette of India, confirms approval for the B.A. B.Ed. (Secondary stage) course with an intake of 100 seats (two units of 50 each) over a four-year duration.
The NCTE order states that the institution has fulfilled all requirements under the Act, including instructional facilities, infrastructure, and financial resources. The college must also comply with ongoing norms such as maintaining approved faculty strength, submitting annual performance appraisal reports, and ensuring mandatory disclosures on its official website.
As the first institution in North Bengal offering ITEP, this recognition marks a significant milestone for Salesian College Autonomous, expanding its academic offerings and strengthening its role in teacher education in North Bengal. END
