Siliguri: Two Physics students from Salesian College, Siliguri — Ms. Anisha Gurung and Ms. Suravi Rai — have joined the International Student Exchange Program at De La Salle University, Philippines, from January 5 to April 11, 2026. They are the first batch of students leaving for international exchange.
The exchange, under the Student Exchange Program University Placement (StEP UP), is part of a Memorandum of Understanding between Salesian College (Autonomous), India, and De La Salle University, Manila. Ms. Gurung, a sixth-semester Physics major, and Ms. Rai, a fourth-semester student pursuing Physics and Computer Science, will be enrolled in the Physics program at the College of Science.
Before departure on 1st January, they were received in Kolkata by Salesian College Vice Principals, the future provincial of Kolkata Salesians, and other dignitaries, including Former Principal of Loreto College Kolkata Sr Dr. Tina Farais and former Superior of Loreto School Darjeeling Sr N. T. Punnamma.
De La Salle University, a prestigious Catholic research institution founded in 1911, is known for academic excellence and global learning opportunities. The program promises valuable international exposure and cross-cultural experiences. END
