INTRODUCTION

The Bachelor of Arts in History with Tourism at Salesian College Autonomous offers a unique blend of historical inquiry and tourism studies, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the past and its relevance to the present. This interdisciplinary program blends the rigor of historical research with its practical uses in tourism management, allowing students to investigate the cultural, social, and economic aspects of historical sites and heritage destinations for tourism purposes.

Building on its rich legacy of academic excellence since 1933, Salesian College Autonomous introduced History in 1948 under Calcutta university and History with Tourism program in 2024, as part of the Dual Major initiative under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This innovative program addresses the increasing need for professionals who can effectively manage the connections between heritage, culture, and tourism.By combining history and tourism, this program offers a unique opportunity for students to explore the intersections between past and present, culture and commerce, and heritage and identity.
