SONADA, May 30, 2025 – Salesian College (Autonomous), Sonada, marked a significant milestone with its 2025 graduation ceremony, honoring the achievements of its graduating class. The event, held with grandeur, showcased academic excellence and celebrated the vibrant spirit of the institution.
The ceremony commenced with a solemn academic procession from the front courtyard, led by the deans carrying the national and college flags, followed by the college band and department-wise lines guided by their respective heads. Miss Reha Agarwal, Assistant Professor of Commerce, opened the proceedings, followed by a lamp-lighting ceremony. Brother Dr. Augustine Joseph, Vice Principal, delivered a warm welcome address, setting a reflective tone.
Sister Alina Minj from the Department of English led a prayer, and Mr. Manuresh Tapa, Head of the Commerce Department, presented the college anthem. Reverend Father Johnny Nedungatt, Director of Salesian College, shared an inspiring message, while Dr. Babu Joseph, Principal of Salesian College (Sonada and Siliguri), declared the assessment results and administered the graduates’ oath. Dr. Terence Mukhia, Dean of Arts and Humanities and IQAC Coordinator, presented the annual report, followed by the distribution of certificates and mementos to all graduates.
Special accolades highlighted the ceremony. Sister Alina Minj received the Principal’s Award for outstanding academic performance, while Pragya from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism earned the President’s Award for exceptional non-academic contributions. IQAC awards were also presented to core members and active participants in quality assurance initiatives.
The chief guest, Dr. Sugata Rani, Registrar of Darjeeling Hill University and Associate Professor of Nepali at Darjeeling Government College, was introduced by Mr. Ujjol, Dean of BCOM and BCA and Deputy Controller of Examinations. Dr. Rani received a memento from the principal and delivered a keynote address, inspiring graduates to embrace their future with courage. Amisha Gurung, Vice President of the Student Council (2024-2025), concluded with a heartfelt valedictory speech.
The ceremony closed with the national anthem, followed by graduates in their gowns posing for photographs, capturing memories of their milestone moment. Representing departments including BCA, BCOM, English, History, Mass Communication and Journalism, Political Science, Sociology, and the BA program, the graduates embodied the college’s motto, Flama Ardens Ed Lucians—a flame that enlightens and enlivens.
Salesian College extended heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2025, wishing them success as they embark on their next chapter.
