On September 2, 2024, the English Department of Salesian College (Autonomous) Sonada organized a special lecture on the memorial of Bishop Eric Benjamin, the first Bishop of Darjeeling diocese. The resource person, Dr. Saikat Sarkar, assistant professor at the Department of English, Coochbehar Panchanan Barma university delivered a lecture on ‘Reading Ghosh The living mountain: Decoding the anthropocene’.

The audience, composed of mainly the English Department witnessed an enlightening session and it also included an active interaction session followed by a Q and A segment allowing participants to engage actively with the speaker.

The program concluded with the presentation of token of appreciation to the speaker by Dr. Terence Mukhia. Following this, Br. Johny Tympuin, a student from the 3rd Semester of the English Department, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the event’s success.
